I see you like this stamp, but I'm afraid it's time for me to take it down. I made this years ago and have since changed my views on the subject. When I was younger I thought homosexuality was weird in anime. I have matured a lot since then and I hope you will too. People can love who ever they want to love, I have no problems with any of that. I used to think it was weird when people wrote fan yaoi and and art depicting two heterosexual characters together, but really it's up to them what they want to draw. They can ship anything they want to and if I have a problem with it, I can just ignore it. I'm sure I like lots of things that others don't like, and I don't want them bothering me about it so why bother them. Sorry about the rant. I hope your tolerance will improve just like mine did . If you don't like things, that's your choice though too. And please don't kill yourself, that's silly.
I don't agree with the stamp, but I agree with your reasoning. I hate yaoi, but only when it is forced upon an anime or manga where it doesn't belong. If an anime's genre is specifically yaoi or shounen-ai, then I have absolutely no problem. However, when obsessive fans put straight guys into a yaoi pairing? It drives me crazy!
However! I'd like to point out before I get "bashed" by immature fans that, I do support homosexuality. I am not homosexual myself, and as I've stated I do not like it, but I will support it because I think everyone deserves to love whomever they want, whichever gender they are. Back to anime. I respect people that like yaoi, or love it, or love any form of it. As long as they respect the fact I don't like it.
I agree with you. I enjoy yaoi just like any other romance and I think it shouldn't be treated any differently. What annoys me is when fans put it where it doesn't belong.
I confess that I made this stamp 3 or 4 years ago, back when I was first getting into anime. I wasn't used to seeing things like yaoi and it disturbed me how much every one was obsessing over it. My views have changed very much now though! and I'm much more accepting of it as a genre. Also i don't have anything against homosexual people of any kind!
Although I no longer agree with everything my own stamp implies, it has created more traffic than ANY other thing I've ever posted in my five years here on da! XD It's kinda depressing since I spent under 10 minutes on this, and put much more effort into my actual art. It does make for some very interesting conversations though! Thanks for the awesome long comment!
I'm glad you enjoy yaoi, but you can agree. It's so simple, yet some fans take it to the extreme.
Ah, well. That's understandable. When I was first getting into anime, I had no idea what yaoi was and then when I found out about it, I was probably as rude as many of those fans that go "EWW, GROSS!" but I have much grown up since then, so don't worry. I personally don't like it, but everyone has a right to do their own opinion, and I don't judge anyone for it.
Heh, yes. Believe it or not, yaoi is probably the most argumentative aspect of anime. Which I think is pretty stupid. If you don't like it, stay away from it. I know from personal experience that sometimes we can't avoid it, with all the pictures that come up, but that's just something you have to deal with. I bet, haha. I guess it was one way to gain a lot of attention. I hope people can start to see past it though; get a look at your other works too.
wait... you have nothing wrong with gay people, but you don't like when people put it into anime... You know, the term Yaoi isn't for fanart only, there are Yaoi that are made with homosexual couples as the main romance. Do you mean that, or the obsessive fan-girl version?
I'm fine with yaoi as an anime genre. I think that's fine just like any other romance. i just get annoyed sometimes when fans pair two characters who were written by the original creator to be straight.
i understand the uncanon parts...some pairings are hmmm not so well together..but..then again its a character so its not like they're really stopping their canon het pairing -its not their creation anyway and so they affect the real story in NO way- if the het guy even has a pairing at all..XD
that and for some ppl against it...its not like they datable either XD
Personally i'm a yaoi fan, and i'll be honest, before i found out how childish it was, i was a rabid yaoi fangirl. Though i've matured throughout my internet years i'm finding this reasonably even. Like. Despite the fact some people like yaoi, there are people who get annoyed to see their favorite anime or manga series get ruined by yaoi fandoms. And that i appreciate the fact that this is not homophobic in any way. <3
I'm glad that it is reasonably even too. there are people who ship yaoi parings and people who are there to defend the characters straightness. I don't dislike yaoi. I think it's cute if done in a canon romantic way. I just don't like it if it's over done or with straight characters.
